VividScale Case Study

How Tom made YouTube his #1 source of clients — on an hour a week.

In his first year we grew his channel from ~600 subscribers and 3 dead sales calls to over 1,000,000 views, 19,000+ subscribers, and a steady pipeline of pre-sold sales calls. He records about an hour a week — we do the rest.

Heads up: this interview was filmed several months ago — on camera Tom mentions a few thousand subscribers. He’s since crossed 19,000 subscribers and a million views, so the numbers on this page run ahead of what you’ll hear him say.

The before

He did it all himself. It wasn’t working.

If you run your own channel, you already know this feeling.

Tom ran the whole thing alone. Research. Scripts. Editing. Thumbnails. Uploading. Two to three hours a video, every single week.

His best video barely cracked 1,000 views. Most did a few hundred.

And the part that actually pays the bills? Over the entire life of the channel, YouTube had booked him three sales calls. All three went nowhere.

So his clients came from X and LinkedIn instead. YouTube just ate his time.

  • ~600 subscribers
  • ~500 views / video
  • 3 calls → 0 closed
  • 2–3 hrs / video
“I was just doing the YouTube videos myself — the research, the scripting, the editing, the posting, all on my own.”

Why he called us

He didn’t want a bigger channel. He wanted clients.

Tom knew YouTube could print leads. He’d just never made it happen. Every hour he put in was an hour stolen from his business. So he handed us the two things eating his week — the editing and the ideas — and got out of the way.

What we did

We took the whole channel off his plate

Tom records. We do everything else. That's the whole deal.

Strategy & ideas

We find topics his buyers already search for and adapt proven angles from other niches. Which means every video is built to book calls — not just rack up views.

Scripts

We write the hook and the call-to-action word-for-word; he riffs the middle off bullets. Which means he sounds like himself and never freezes on camera.

Editing, thumbnails & SEO

The entire back end, done for him — the exact work he told us he hated and wasn't good at.

Publishing

We upload, optimise and post every video, then feed what worked into the next batch. Which means it compounds instead of guessing.

The real reason it worked

It wasn’t more tutorials. We put Tom in front of the raw truth his buyers were already searching for — not “50-node workflow” walkthroughs. Videos that make the right person think, “this guy gets me.”

His time dropped from ~16 hours a month to about an hour a week. Review the script. Record. Done.

What happened

Straight from his own dashboard

Not our numbers. His — pulled live from YouTube Studio.

Tom's YouTube Studio overview: 'Your channel has gotten 1,000,015 views so far' — 1M views, 59.8K watch hours, +19.2K subscribers, with the all-time views chart flat for years then spiking vertically after VividScale started.
His own YouTube Studio: the channel just crossed 1,000,015 views — 59,800 watch hours and +19,200 subscribers, from about 600 when we started. Look at the line: flat for years, then vertical the month we took over.

One video did most of the heavy lifting — and it’s still booking calls months later. In the last 48 hours alone, the channel pulled 38,000+ views. On autopilot.

And it wasn’t one lucky video. It’s a system. Video after video ranking #1 of his last 10 uploads, at 6–15% click-through. Tap any to zoom in.

The part that pays

Views don’t pay. Booked calls do.

And YouTube leads close differently. Here's why — in Tom's words.

“They turn up to the calls pre-framed. They’ve already spent 10, sometimes 20 minutes with me before we ever talk — so they see me as someone who can actually help them. There’s credibility before the call even starts.”
Tom CrawshawTom Crawshaw · on why YouTube leads convert

Here’s what that turned into — from his messages to us, and the review he left in public:

Slack thread: Tom says '17 calls the last 7 days'; asked how many he booked from YouTube before, he replies 'literally only had maybe 2-3', 'so many have come off that last video' — the BRUTAL REALITY one.
Before us: 2–3 calls from YouTube, ever. One video later — 17 booked in a week.
Slack message from Tom: '2 more sales today from YT. $4K cash collected.'
$4,000 cash collected in one day, from YouTube.
Slack exchange: asked how much revenue came directly from YouTube since starting, Tom replies 'Probs over $100K.'
Early on, asked how much YouTube had made him, Tom said “Probs over $100K” — before he’d even set up proper tracking.
Tom Crawshaw's 5-star Trustpilot review titled '1 millions views and over $200K generated from YouTube.' He writes that after 12 months, YouTube is now his number one source of quality leads for his mentorship and consulting offers, bringing in over $90,000 in sponsorships, probably another $150,000 in sales, plus about $8,000 in ad revenue, and calls Archit's editing team fantastic.
A year in, he put the full number in public — a 5-star Trustpilot review: $90K+ in sponsorships, roughly $150K in sales, plus ad revenue. Over $200K generated from YouTube in 12 months — and it’s now his “number one source of quality leads.”
Yeah, but…

“Would this actually work for me?”

The three things every founder says next — answered in Tom's own words.

“Scripts will make me sound like a robot.”

They won’t. We only script the two parts that make or break a video — the hook and the call-to-action. You riff the middle off bullets. Tom’s most-viewed video, nearly 70,000 views, was fully scripted.

“They’re pretty decent… for the most part we’re just scripting the intro and the call to action.”

“This won’t work in my niche.”

If people go to YouTube to learn what you do, it works. We find the exact topics your buyers already search for, then position you as the person who gets them — not another tutorial channel.

“If you’re an expert, a course creator — if you have a domain of expertise and people go to YouTube to learn, there’s a good chance you could do pretty well.”

“I don’t have the time.”

That’s the whole point. Tom went from 2–3 hours a video doing everything himself to about an hour a week: review the script, record, done. We handle research, scripting, editing, thumbnails, SEO and publishing.

“Spending a few grand a month to have someone run the whole thing while I just show up and record? It’s a huge ROI. I honestly can’t see why I’d ever stop doing this.”

“YouTube has been this huge unlock. Without it, I wouldn’t have the scale I have right now.”
